The Iowa women’s tennis team completed the second day of the Furman Fall Classic, adding five more wins for the Hawkeyes in the tournament.
Meg Racette and Hillary Mintz finished fourth in flight one doubles, the highest Hawkeye finish. They lost to Audra Falk and Annie Menees of Vanderbilt, 8-4. At flight three, Anastasia Zhukova and Milica Veselinovic won over Wisconsin’s Lexi Golden and Furman’s Lisa Bornt-Davis, 8-6, to place fifth. Hilary Tyler and Morgan Tuttle also won their doubles match against Middle Tennessee State’s Claudia Szabo and Ana Maria Cibils, 8-5.
In singles, Racette defeated Mary Neill Hagood of Furman, 6-3, 7-5, to advance to the fifth-place match at flight one. Mintz will also play a fifth-place match after defeating Middle Tennessee State’s Ana Maria Cibils, 6-4, 6-1, in flight two. In flight six singles, Tuttle defeated Lisa Bornt-Davis of Furman, 6-3, 6-1. She will also play a fifth-place match tomorrow. Zhukova, Veselinovic and Tyler all recorded singles losses today, but will be playing in third-place matches tomorrow.
The Hawkeyes will finish singles competition at the Furman Fall Classic tomorrow.
