The University of Iowa women’s tennis team had a strong showing during competition today at the ITA Midwest Regionals. Sophomore Hillary Mintz advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play.
Mintz upset Michigan’s Michelle DeCosta, 6-4, 6-2, to advance to the next round. Iowa’s other two singles players, Meg Racette and Milica Veselinovic, both lost matches in the round of 16.
In doubles play, Racette and Mintz were upset by Brianna Knue and Macall Harkins of Illinois, 8-4. This ends their bid at regionals.
Mintz, the last Hawkeye left in competition, will play in the quarterfinals round tomorrow, with competition beginning at 11 a.m.
