Field Hockey Announces Team Awards

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa field hockey team announced its first annual team awards this week. Senior Barb Weinberg was named team MVP and awarded the Dr. Christine Grant Leadership Award. Senior Sarah Dawson was named Practice Player of the Year.

The Team MVP award is given to the player who demonstrates outstanding skill, character, competitive drive, leadership and devotion to team goals.

The Dr. Christine Grant Leadership Award is presented to the player who demonstrates leadership on a daily basis and shows the utmost respect for her teammates, coaches and opponents. The award winner must also represent the University of Iowa in a first class manner on and off the field.

The Practice Player of the Year award goes to an individual who maintains the highest level of intensity in practice throughout the year, helping make her teammates better by always competing and giving everything she has in all training sessions.

The awards are voted on by the players and coaches.
