Iowa Defeated By Oklahoma

NORMAN, OK – No. 29 Iowa was defeated by 9th-ranked Oklahoma, Saturday, 195.475-193.825. Oklahoma also defeated Iowa in Iowa City, February 18th.

On vault, freshman Katie Turcotte posted the highest score for the Hawkeyes with a 9.8 to tie for third place with Lori Winn of Oklahoma. Kara Pinjuv tied for fifth with Oklahoma’s Kiara Redmond, scoring 9.75

On bars, Oklahoma’s Brittney Koncak-Schumann won the event, scoring 9.875. Katie Burke and Beth Dilick tied for fourth with Redmond, scoring 9.775, and Pinjuv tied for eighth with Brandi Loffer with a score of 9.7.

Danielle Legeai placed second on beam, scoring 9.85, which was Iowa’s best showing in the event. Turcotte placed sixth (9.725), while Pinjuv placed seventh and Loffer finished in eighth place.

Iowa’s top floor competitor against Oklahoma was Jenifer Simbhudas, finishing sixth with a 9.775, while Pinjuv tied for seventh with Kristin Smith of Oklahoma, scoring 9.75.

In the all-around, Oklahoma’s Koncak-Schumann won the event, scoring 39.325. Iowa’s top all-around competitors were Pinjuv, finishing fourth with a 38.9, and Turcotte, scoring 38.875 to finish fifth.

Iowa will compete at Iowa State, March 23, at 7 p.m.
