DES MOINES, IA – The University of Iowa men and women’s track teams began competition at the 99th annual Drake Relays, Wednesday. Senior Tammilee Kerr completed the first half of the heptathlon while senior Ryan Niver and sophomore Frank Prill began the first half of the decathlon.

Kerr took third in the shot put with a career-best toss of 38-5, third in the high jump (5-6 ½), fourth in the 200 meters (25.18) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.55). Former Hawkeye Peaches Roach placed first in the 200 meters and the high jump.

Niver finished fifth in the long jump (22-3 ½), sixth in the 100 meters with a hand time of 11.0, his fastest of the season and seventh in the shot put (38-8 ¼). Prill took third in the 400 meters with a career-best time of 50.08

The Hawkeyes will continue competition at the Drake Relays, Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
