EUGENE, OR — University of Iowa sophomores D’Juan Richardson and Chase Kadlec, and former Hawkeye Racheal Marchand posted Iowa’s top performances at the 2009 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships last weekend in Eugene, OR. The event was held at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field, which was the site of the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1972, 1976, 1980 and 2008.
Richardson placed sixth in the junior men’s 400-meter hurdles in 52.64, which bettered his prelim time of 53.30. Kadlec also placed sixth in the junior men’s 1,500 meters, clocking a 3:53.31 which bested his prelim time of 3:54.96. Marchand finished sixth in the senior women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 15:37.08.
Other current or former Hawkeyes who also competed at the meet were redshirt freshman Thomas Reynolds in the junior men’s discus (13th – 168-11), sophomore Zack Braff in the junior men’s 800 meters (1:53.18), former Hawkeye Meghan Armstrong in the senior women’s 5,000 meters (16:42.76) and former Hawkeye John Hickey in the senior men’s shot put (22nd – 57-3 1/2).
