WAYZATA, MN – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished the sixth annual Golden Gopher Invitational in sixth place. The Hawkeyes recorded a final round of 305 (+17) to finish with a 54-hole total of 900 (+36). Louisiana State led the 11-team field with a score of 869 (+5). The Golden Gopher Invitational is being played on the par 72, 7,020-yard Spring Hill Golf Course in Wayzata, MN.
Senior Vince India fired a final round of two-under par 70 to catch up to junior Chris Brant and tie for seventh place. Brant carded a final round of 76 (+4) as the pair finished with 54-hole totals of 220 (+4). Senior Brad Hopfinger posted a 78 (+6) final round to tie for 18th with a tournament total of 224 (+8). Junior Barrett Kelpin shot a third round of 82 (+10) to finish with a score of 238 (+22). The Kalamazoo, MI, native finished tied for 46th. Additionally, junior Brad George finished in a tie for 48th after his final round of 81 (+9) brought his total to 240 (+24).
The Hawkeyes will return home to host Golfweek’s Conference Challenge Sept. 19-21. Competition will be held at Spirit Hollow Golf Club in Burlington, IA.
