South Bend, Ind. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team is tied for first place after two rounds of play at Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic. The Hawkeyes fired the best round of the tournament with a second round of two-under par 278. Iowa, along with Notre Dame, fired a 36-hole total of 567 (+7). The 15-team field is competing on the par 70, 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
Senior Vince India is leading the Hawkeyes through two rounds with a 141 (+1). The Deerfield, Ill., native fired an opening round at even par 70, with a second round of 71 (+1). Senior Brad Hopfinger and junior Barrett Kelpin are both tied for ninth with scores of 142 (+2). The pair combined for ten birdies on the day.
Chris Brant carded four birdies in his second round to finish with an even par 70. The junior is tied for 12th with a first day total of 143 (+3). Additionally, junior Brad George is tied for 39th after recording a score of 150 (+10).
