IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team topped Northern Iowa, 7-0, on Saturday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. The Hawkeyes moved to 4-2 this season, including a 4-0 mark at home. Iowa is 7-0 all-time against the Panthers (6-3).

The Hawkeyes won the doubles point via a 3-0 sweep. Iowa’s lineup featured two duos that were teamed for the first time during dual play. Senior Sonja Molnar and freshman Morven McCulloch paired at the top spot to earn an 8-1 victory against Jessica Kunzelmann and Nina Pfhaler. Senior Ally Majercik and sophomore Christina Harazin won 8-4 at the No. 3 position against Chelsea Moore and Stefannia Sampaio.

Freshmen Ellen Silver and Katie Zordani advanced to a team-best 4-0 during dual play. The duo topped Krissy Lankelma and Cassandra Dix, 8-6, at the No. 2 spot. Iowa has won 21 straight duals in which they have swept the doubles point.

In singles, Harazin earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Kunzelmann at the No. 3 position, improving to 3-3 in dual play.

Molnar remained perfect in dual play with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Pfhaler at the No. 1 spot. Molnar, ranked No. 109 by the ITA, is 6-0 this season with five straight-set victories. The win was the 90th of her Hawkeye career.

Majercik topped Sampaio 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position in her dual play singles debut.

Zordani and Silver both won a 6-2, 6-0 decision. Zordani, playing at the No. 4 spot, defeated Moore to move to 4-2 during dual play. Silver was victorious against Lankelma at the No. 5 spot. Silver is 3-3 in dual matches.

McCulloch secured the shutout with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) win at the No. 2 position. McCulloch improved her dual play record to 4-2.

Iowa will travel to South Bend, Ind., to play Notre Dame on March 2 at 2:30 p.m. (CT). The Hawkeyes return to action at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex on March 4, when they face No. 73 DePaul at 10 a.m. (CT).
