NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team closed the 2013 Bulldog Invitational with three singles wins against Purdue on Sunday.
Annette Dohanics, Aimee Tarun and Shelby Talcott all scored straight-set victories on the final day of competition at Yale University.
Talcott dominated Purdue’s Lynda Xepoleas, 6-1, 6-1, while Dohanics and Tarun won by identical 6-2, 6-4 scores. Dohanics and Tarun each finished the tournament with 2-1 records.
After inclement weather forced the tournament to reshuffle its schedule, Talcott was paired with Purdue’s Andjela Djokovic in the doubles division, where they topped Penn State’s Carmen Sandor and Samantha Tutelman, 8-3.
Dohanics and Caitlyn Hindmarsh lost to Penn’s Jaime Yapp-Shing and Kana Daniel, 8-2, in Iowa’s only other doubles match.
The Hawkeyes return to the court Oct. 17 at the ITA Regional Championships in Norman, Okla.
