TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — The University of Iowa women’s tennis duo of Montana Crawford and Carin Runefelt have concluded doubles and singles matches for day one at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.
Crawford and Runefelt won their doubles match against Kennesaw State’s Hopton and Robinson, winning 8-3. Crawford also won her first round singles match against Sofia Kurtz of Tulane, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
“Montana and Carin had a strong start in doubles. They were able to execute much of what we’ve been practicing the last couple of weeks. Montana did a great job battling in her first match,” said UI head coach Katie Dougherty. “Carin had a couple tough ones but played much better in her second match. Back to work tomorrow, looking forward to finishing strong.”
Tournament action will resume Saturday at 8 a.m. (CT).
