RALEIGH DURHAM, North Carolina – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team wrapped up day two of the Kitty Harrison Invite on Saturday.
“Credit Texas today they played well,” said UI head coach Sasha Schmid. “It was a good test for us in singles. Elise played a very solid match and I’m happy for her.”
The Hawkeyes finished 1-6 against the University of Texas in singles play and 1-3 in doubles play in the second day of the tournament.
Elise van Heuvelen defeated Granic from Texas in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. The freshman is now 2-0 on the weekend.
The doubles team of Anastasia Reimchen and Carin Runefelt def. Eastern Carolina’s Storozheva and Sarjoo, 8-3. Reimchen and Runefelt are, 2-1 for the weekend.
The Hawkeyes conclude The Kitty Harrison Invite and their fall season tomorrow. Iowa will face Duke in doubles matches tomorrow.
“We are looking forward to another great test tomorrow against Duke to end our fall season,” said Schmid.
