KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The University of Iowa softball team fell to the Missouri Tigers, 9-1, and the Saint Joseph’s Hawks, 4-1, on Saturday in the Diamond 9 Citrus Blossom at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1 – Missouri
Junior Allison Doocy got the nod in the circle for Iowa. She surrendered the first run of the game in the second inning.
In the third looking to tie the game at one, Iowa had runners on first and second with zero outs, but failed to capitalize, leaving two runners on base.
The Tigers broke the game open in the fifth with six runs crossing the plate. Senior Erin Riding relieved Doocy.
After another run for Missouri in the sixth, Iowa battled with the bases loaded and scored its first run of the day after junior DoniRae Mayhew was hit by a pitch.
However, Iowa couldn’t close the gap and the Hawkeyes fell in the first game of the afternoon.
Game 2 – Saint Joseph’s

Riding came in to finish the final 2.2 innings for the Hawkeyes. Iowa was held scoreless through six innings and entered the final frame down 4-0. With two outs in the seventh, junior Lea Thompson hit her first career home run to put Iowa on the board and jumpstart the Iowa offense.
