Durham, N.H. — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team finished the weekend 1-1 after falling to the New Hampshire Wildcats, 193.950 – 193.500, on Sunday afternoon.
After defeating Southeast Missouri State on Friday night in Iowa City, the GymHawks had a quick turn around with New Hampshire on Sunday.

“I still believe we have a great deal of potential, we just haven’t found it yet. I am okay with that. A lot of things were done really well. We had two freshmen tie for the win on beam which is super exciting. To go away and win beam as freshmen, is awesome. We need to find the lineup that we trust one through six. That’s on me to figure out what lineups are the strongest and to find those kids that make it consistently happen.”
BARS
Starting the GymHawks off was junior Clair Kaji recording score of 9.725. Sophomore Emma Hartzler followed with a score of 9.775. Junior Charlotte Sullivan stuck her landing, giving her a score of 9.825, and sophomore Maddie Kampschroeder contributed a score of 9.750.
VAULT
Four freshmen GymHawks led the way on vault. Mackenzie Vance scored a 9.375 to lead Iowa off. Alex Greenwald followed with a 9.475. Lauren Guerin contributed a 9.075. Bridget Killian finished out the freshmen quartette with a score of 9.750. Senior Misty-Jade Carlson contributed a great vault with a score of 9.725. Junior Charlotte Sullivan had her second stuck landing of the meet and contributed a score of 9.600.
FLOOR
The GymHawks earned a season-high on floor with a score of 48.525. Sophomore Erin Castle opened floor with strong routine, which earned the GymHawks a 9.700. Greenwald followed scoring a career high of 9.725. Kaji contribute a fierce routine that earned her a 9.800. Freshmen Allie Gilchrist and Lauren Guerin closed out floor for the GymHawks and both contributed powerful routines with scores of 9.650.
BEAM
Looking to gain separation from the Wildcats on the final event, Carlson started off with a stick and a score of 9.750 on beam. Gilchrist and Killian both contributed stuck landings and matching scores of 9.825, which is a career high for both of them. Kaji was fourth GymHawk in a row to stick her landing on her beam routine with a score of 9.725.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Alex Greenwald had a career high of 9.725 on floor.
- The GymHawks had four stuck landings in a row on beam by Carlson, Gilchrist, Killian and Kaji.
- Killian and Gilchrist both had career highs on beam with scores of 9.825.
