COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 9 University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team scored a 402.800, defeating No. 22 Northern Illinois (325.850) and falling to No. 5 Ohio State (407.650) on Saturday afternoon inside St. John’s Arena.
Sophomore Alex Walther earned a career-best score on the floor exercise (13.100).
Dais earned a career-best score on rings (13.650). Freshman Reuven Anderson earned a career-best score on rings (13.450).
Junior Bennet Huang garnered season-best score on the pommel horse (13.650).
Senior Mitch Mandozzi garnered a career-best score on the high bar (13.800). Sophomore Drew Helberg scored a career-best 13.250 on high bar.
Freshman Carter Tope earned a career best score on parallel bars (13.600).

“It was another consistent meet for us with what we’ve been doing,” head coach JD Reive said. “We were right on target with our projected score based on training, which is great. You want to do what you train. If we want to beat the teams ranked ahead of us, we have to practice better than they do. This team is very capable.”
