IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team fell short to the No. 8 Michigan Wolverines, 196.800-195.975, on Friday night. Sophomores Carina Tolan and Mackenzie Vance, and junior Erin Castle earned career bests in their respective events.

Tolan led off on uneven bars scoring a 9.800, Vance bettered her uneven bars best with a 9.775, and Castle earned a 9.800 on beam to earn her highest score on the event.

“It’s great to see hard work get rewarded,” Iowa head GymHawk Larissa Libby said. “The three that scored career bests are in the gym working their tails off every single day. Carina (Tolan) came to Iowa and didn’t even swinging bars. It just shows how hard she works.”
