SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Iowa rowing team competed in the Grand Finals of the Sunshine State Invite on Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Hawkeyes competed in the 1V8, 2V8, 3V8, 1V4, and 2V4 in heats of 1-km sprints against a stacked field of competition, including: Miami, Tulsa, UCF, Boston, Michigan State, UNC, Drexel, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, UMass, and Jacksonville.
Iowa’s top placement of the day came from the 2V4 placing first by 8.52 seconds.
Hawkeyes are back in action April 13 against Kansas and Kansas State in Lawrence, Kansas.

“It was great to have all boats in the A finals today. Learning how to race over multiple days is key to the growth of our team. I think the entire roster grew as crews this weekend. Our 2V4 put in a really great effort and was a highlight for us this weekend with two first place finishes. We are excited to get back to work over the next two weeks as we prep for our double dual with Kansas and Kansas State.”
