Black and Gold Finale Ends in Tie

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Game three of the Black and Gold Series ended in a tie, 2-2, on Thursday evening at Pearl Field.

The pitchers were shutting it down for both teams through five innings of play. Junior Haley Downe got the start for the Black team and went three scoreless innings. Devyn Greer came in and threw two scoreless innings of relief.

The Gold team used the combination of Mya Clark, Sofia Elliott and Andrea Jaskowiak to keep the game scoreless through five innings.

The Black team broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth. Soo-Jin Berry drew a one out walk and scored from first on an RBI double from Allyssa Ramos. The Gold team answered in the seventh as they took the lead, 2-1, on RBIs from Desiree Rivera and Devin Simon.

Hannah Lindsay tied the game with one out in the home half of the seventh on a solo home run to left field.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Saturday Sept. 21 as they host Mount Mercy in a nine-inning exhibition at Pearl Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and admission to the game is free.
