The University of Iowa men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Ann Arbor to face No. 23 Michigan at the Crisler Center. The game will begin at 1 p.m. (CT) and be televised live on FS1.

Radio: Saturday’s game will be broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network with Gary Dolphin (play-by-play) and Bobby Hansen (color) on the call. The network includes more than 40 stations that blanket the state of Iowa and include portions of Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. OPENING TIP
- Junior Josh Dix hit a game-winning catch-and-shoot 3-pointer from 33 feet with 0.8 seconds remaining to send Iowa to an 80-79 victory over Northwestern on Dec. 3 in Iowa City. It was Iowa’s first buzz-beater since Joe Wieskamp’s bank-in corner 3 at Rutgers in 2019.
- Dix’s heroics was the No. 1 play of the day on SportsCenter’s top 10 plays for Dec. 3.
- The win was Iowa’s first Big Ten-opening victory since Dec. of 2020. The Hawkeyes haven’t started 2-0 in league play since 2015-16 when the team won its first seven games.

- Sophomore Brock Harding has scored in double digits in three straight games. He had a 20-point, 10-assist, four-steal double-double in the win over USC Upstate. It was his second career double-double and second 10+ assist game.
- Harding is averaging 17 points, 7.7 assists and 3.7 steals over his last three games, while shooting 60.5 (23-of-38) from the field.
- Payton Sandfort made four 3s en route to a 20-point outing against the Wildcats. It was his third 20-point game of the year (21st of his career) and his third game with four 3-point makes.
- Sophomore Owen Freeman has posted two double-doubles and is averaging a team-best 17.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks, while shooting 65 percent from the floor. He is second in the Big Ten in field goal percentage.
- Iowa has at least one player (five different players) score 20 or more points in seven of the team’s eight games.
- The Hawkeyes have made at least eight 3-point field goals in seven games, including 10+ in four contests. Iowa made 18 in the win over Southern — the most since 2022. Iowa is second in the Big Ten (25th nationally), averaging 10.4 per game.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN
- The Wolverines, who are ranked 23rd in the coaches’ poll and receiving votes in the AP poll, bring a 7-1 record into Saturday’s game. Michigan went on the road to down No. 11 Wisconsin, 67-64, on Tuesday in Madison.
- Michigan has won six straight games since suffering its lone defeat against Wake Forest (72-70) on Nov. 10 in the second game of the season.
- The Wolverines have Power 5 victories over TCU, Virginia Tech, Xavier and Wisconsin this season and are 4-0 at the Crisler Center.
- All five Michigan starters average at least 9.8 points per game and four are in double figures. The Wolverines’ top four scorers are all transfers.
- Yale transfer Danny Wolf leads the team, averaging 12 points and 9.5 rebounds (second in B1G) with three double-doubles. Ohio State transfer Roddy Gayle, Jr., averages 11.6 points, Auburn transfer Tre Donaldson averages 11.4 points and has a team-high 31 assists and FAU transfer Vladislav Goldin averages 11 points and has 16 blocks.
- Michigan ranks in the top 20 nationally, allowing 60.6 points per game and is 15th in the country, limiting opponents to a 36.6 field goal percentage (3rd in B1G, 11th nationally).
- The Wolverines are second in the Big Ten in blocks (44) with Wolf and Goldin ranking in the top three.

• Iowa led by as many as 17 points in the first half and took a 45-34 lead into the break. Northwestern erased the deficit and led by six points with 2:15 left before Iowa rallied for its first Big Ten opening victory since 2020.

• The 2023 Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year has been in double figures three this season and six times in his career. He is averaging 10 points, 6.3 assists and 2.6 steals, while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from 3-point range.
