Burrows Joins Coaching Staff

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa track and field has hired Cameron Burrows as an assistant coach, Director of Track and Field Joey Woody announced on Monday. Burrows will oversee the jumps and multis groups.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa track and field has hired Cameron Burrows as an assistant coach, Director of Track and Field Joey Woody announced on Monday.

Burrows will oversee the jumps and multis groups. He returns to Iowa City after spending the 2021-22 season as an interim assistant coach.

Prior to joining the Iowa staff, Burrows spent three seasons at Coastal Carolina in the same role. He guided pentathlete Nikki Boon to a fourth-place finish and a program record at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2023.

Burrows coached two jumpers into the program’s record books during his time in Conway. Pole vaulter Kennedy Dennis hit a height of 3.79 meters for the second-best mark in school history. Camryn Lorick rose to second in the high jump at 1.68 meters. Additionally, Burrows coached Deondre Hardy to a runner-up finish in the men’s long jump at the 2023 conference outdoor championships.

Before Coastal Carolina, Burrows coached for one season at his alma mater, Tiffin University. As a student-athlete, Burrows was a 12-time NCAA DII All-American and 2021 NCAA DII national champion in the long jump. He qualified for the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships twice in his career. The Dragons were national champions in 2017.

Burrows earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in marketing from Tiffin. He has two business administration master’s degrees – one with a sports management focus and another with a human resource management and marketing focus.
