IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior setter Claire Ammeraal was named to the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Central Region First Team, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.

Ammeraal is the first Hawkeye to land on an AVCA All-Region team since 2021, when Courtney Buzzerio represented the program on the All-North Region team. Overall, Ammeraal is the seventh Hawkeye to earn AVCA All-Region recognition.

The Central Region consists of programs from the following states: Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma.

The second-team All-Big Ten selection tallied 1,190 assists, which were the second-most in the league and 15th nationally. Ammeraal led the region in assists. She finished third in the conference with 12 double-doubles. Ammeraal added to Iowa’s offense with 179 kills and 1.43 kills per set. She finished third on the team with a .317 hitting percentage. All three marks were career bests. As a result, she was the most offensive setter in the Big Ten, finishing as the only setter with more than 100 kills and with more than one kill per set on average.

In her final season, Ammeraal added two triple-doubles, including one in Iowa’s win over Northwestern. She averaged a career-best 9.52 assists per set during her senior campaign. While running Iowa’s offense, Ammeraal guided the Hawkeyes’ attack to its best hitting percentage since 2016. Iowa finished the year hitting .243.

Ammeraal was drafted with the sixth pick in the third round and 22nd overall in the 2025 MLV Draft to the Omaha Supernovas.
