• Sunday’s game is the first top 20 match-up inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena since the 2020-21 season. The Hawkeyes are looking for their first ranked win since the 2023-24 season.
• It is the first time since the 2019-20 season that Iowa and Illinois meet in Iowa City as ranked teams and it’s the first ranked game between the two teams in four seasons.

• Illinois has four players averaging in double figures and six averaging at least 7.7 points per game. Freshman Keaton Wagler leads the team with a 15.5 scoring average, 56 assists, 12 steals and 29 3-pointers. He is shooting 45.6 percent from the field, 39.7 from long range and 83.1 from the line.
• Kylan Boswell (14.5), Andrej Stojakovic (14.4) and David Mirkovic (12.7) are also in double figures, while Tomislav Iisic adds 9.9 points. Mirkovic also pulls down a team-high 8.3 rebounds and has 39 assists.
• Illinois averages 42.6 rebounds per game, ranking 14th nationally. The team is +11.5 on the glass, which is the eighth-best margin nationally.

The Hawkeyes had three looks at potential game-tying 3-pointers on Tuesday night in Williams Arena, but couldn’t get one to fall as Minnesota handed Iowa a 70-67 loss.
• Iowa trailed by 14 points at the midway point of the second half before using a 20-5 spurt to take a 65-64 lead with 1:14 to play. The Gophers followed with five straight points in an eventual three-point win.
• Iowa had three players finish in double figures with senior Bennett Stirtz leading the way with 21 points -- all of which came in the second half. Junior Kael Combs finished with a career-high 14 points and sophomore Isaia Howard scored 10 points and had six rebounds off the bench.
• Minnesota had an 11-point advantage at the free throw line, making 21-of-28 attempts. Iowa was 10-of-13.

• Freshman guard Peyton McCollum suffered a foot injury in practice on Jan. 8 that will require him to miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
• The Hawkeyes are ranked 19th in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches’ Polls. It is Iowa’s highest ranking since being 16th in the final poll during the 2021-22 season.
