17 Hawkeyes Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Seventeen University of Iowa field hockey student-athletes have been named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad.  

Iowa’s honorees include Kaia Beaudoin, Jordan Byers, Niamh de Jong, Lauren DeRose, Téa Fortpied, Alexa Knott, Mia Magnotta, Hannah Maney, Sabrina McGroatry, Rylie Novak, McKenna Panko, Tess Reed, Peyton Shellaway, Milly Short, Lieve van Kessel, Gia Whalen, and Anyia Woods. 

Seven Hawkeyes — DeRose, Magnotta, Maney, McGroatry, Panko, Short, and Whalen – have each earned the distinction for the second year in a row.   

The NFHCA National Academic Squad, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
