8 Hawkeyes Named 2025 NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction

Eight University of Iowa field hockey student-athletes – Kaia Beaudoin, Jordan Byers, Niamh de Jong, Lauren DeRose, Téa Fortpied, McKenna Panko, Peyton Shellaway, and Milly Short – have been named National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholars of Distinction, it was announced Friday by the NFHCA.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Eight University of Iowa field hockey student-athletes – Kaia Beaudoin, Jordan Byers, Niamh de Jong, Lauren DeRose, Téa Fortpied, McKenna Panko, Peyton Shellaway, and Milly Short – have been named National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholars of Distinction, it was announced Friday by the NFHCA.  

It is the second consecutive honor for Panko. 

This distinguished program acknowledges exceptional undergraduate student-athletes who have consistently maintained an impressive cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher throughout the fall semester of the 2025-26 academic year.
