IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa swimming will compete at a last chance qualifier meet on Sunday. The meet is hosted by the University of Wisconsin at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center in Madison.
Freshman Payton Flowers eyes qualification to the NCAA Championships in the 50 free. Flowers is the only swimmer in school history to swim sub-22.00 in the 50 free. At the Big Ten Championships on Feb. 20, the rookie from DeForest, Wisconsin, set the school record in 21.94 and placed eighth overall.
Iowa will also seek qualification in the 200 free relay. Rachel Dildine, Ella Jean Kelly, Jenna Kerr and Audrey Olen will join Flowers at the meet. Automatic qualification time for the relay is 1:28.26. The provisional qualifying time is 1:28.78. The Hawkeyes have a season best and school record time of 1:29.68, set by Flowers, Dildine, Kelly and Olen on Feb. 19 at the Big Ten Championships.
