IOWA CITY, Iowa – Forty-eight University of Iowa student-athletes have been named to the 2025-26 Big Ten Winter Academic All-Conference team. The list includes student-athletes from men’s basketball (2), women’s basketball (6), women’s gymnastics (13), women’s swimming and diving (17) and men’s wrestling (10).
The Big Ten Conference recognized 1,127 winter sports student-athletes, including 83 men's and 119 women's basketball players, 59 men's and 146 women's gymnasts, 98 men's hockey players, 154 men's and 251 women's swimmers and divers and 217 men’s wrestlers.
Thirty of these student-athletes have maintained unblemished cumulative GPAs, including Iowa’s Jacob Koch (men’s basketball), Aurelie Tran, Kaia Vanney and Eva Volpe (women’s gymnastics).
Koch was the only men’s basketball player in the Big Ten with a perfect GPA, while the trio of Hawkeye gymnasts to have a perfect GPA was a Big Ten most.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
