Heiden Earns AP All-American Honors

Iowa center Ava Heiden earned Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa center Ava Heiden earned Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention, the AP announced on Wednesday.

The sophomore led Iowa with 17.4 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per games while shooting 64 percent from the floor this season. Her 64 percent from the floor is good for second in the Big Ten and third nationally. Heiden is the 10th player in program history to shoot 64 percent or better from the floor.

She also leads all power four players in points per game improvement over the last two seasons and is third nationally at +12.6 points per game. Over the last eight games, Heiden was 74-of-106 from the floor. (70 percent)

Heiden is the first Hawkeye since Caitlin Clark to be named an AP All-American. In 10 out of the last 13 seasons, at least one Hawkeye has been selected for AP All-America honors dating back to 2014.

Heiden and the second-seeded Hawkeyes return to action on Saturday, March 21 against 15-seed FDU in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The game is scheduled for approx. 3 p.m. (CT) inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena and will air nationally on ESPN.
