2026 Final Notes

The Iowa Gymnastics team finished the season with a 14-6 record, 6-3 in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes placed fourth in B1G regular season and fifth at the Big Ten Championships.

 FINAL RANKING

  • The Hawkeyes finished the 2026 season ranked 17th in the nation with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 196.473
  • Iowa placed fourth in B1G regular season and fifth at the Big Ten Championships.
  • The GymHawks closed out the season ranked in the top 25 on all four apparatus, including 12th on bars, 19th on vault and 24th on beam and floor.

  • Iowa finished the season with a 14-6 record, 6-3 in the Big Ten.
  • The Hawkeyes set a program record with a 197.225 team score against Nebraska on Feb. 7, its highest mark since 2003.
  • The GymHawks surpassed 197.000 twice in a season for the first time in program history. (Feb. 7, Feb. 21)
  • Iowa posted five of the top 10 bars scores in program history and broke the school record in the event twice, most recently with a 49.575 at NCAA Regionals on April 3.
  • Sophomore Aurélie Tran earned Iowa’s first perfect 10.00 on uneven bars at NCAA Regionals.
  • The Hawkeyes scored a 49.475 on floor against Penn State on Feb. 21, tying for the sixth-best mark in program history.

TRAN AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • Sophomore Aurélie Tran tied for second on uneven bars with a 9.9750, the highest bars score by a Hawkeye at the NCAA Championships.
  • Tran’s runner up performance was ties individual result in program history at the national meet.
  • Tran finished behind Florida’s Riley McCusker, who won the title with a 9.9875.
  • The Repentigny, Quebec, native became the 12th Hawkeye to qualify for the championships and the first since 2022. She was the first Iowa gymnast to qualify on bars since Alexis Maday in 2003.

26 AND COUNTING

  • Iowa extended its streak to 26 consecutive seasons with an NCAA Regional appearance (team or individual).
  • The GymHawks competed at the Corvallis Regional against No. 4 UCLA, No. 13 Minnesota and Washington.
  • Iowa scored a 196.750 to place third. UCLA won with a 197.450, followed by Minnesota (196.975) and Washington (195.850).
  • Sophomore Aurélie Tran won the regional uneven bars title with a program-record 10.0.
  • The GymHawks set a school record on bars with a 49.575.

HAWKEYES IN THE RANKINGS

  • Sophomore Aurélie Tran finished the season ranked 13th nationally in the all-around (39.470) and fifth in the Big Ten. She also ranked 15th nationally and third in the conference on bars (9.925).
  • Sophie Schriever completed her freshman season ranked 25th nationally in the all-around (39.365) and ninth in the Big Ten.
  • Sydney Turner capped the season ranked 29th nationally in the all-around (39.305) and 11th in the Big Ten.

TRAN-TASTIC SEASON

  • Aurélie Tran was the only GymHawk to compete in the all-around at every meet this season, notching a career-high 39.600 on March 6.
  • Tran earned WCGA regular-season second-team All-American honors on bars and in the all-around. She is the first Hawkeye to earn second-team honors in two events.
  • The Repentigny, Quebec, native led Iowa with the 16 event titles (7x bars, 5x all-around, 3x vault and 1x beam)
  • Tran won a share of the Big Ten bars title with a 9.950, becoming the first Hawkeye to win the event since 2003.

WCGA HEAD COACH OF THE YEAR

  • Jen Llewellyn was named Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) North Central Region Head Coach of the Year.
  • After her second season at Iowa, Llewellyn became the second coach in program history to earn the honor and the first since 2016.

B1G AWARDS

  • Aurélie Tran earned first-team All-Big Ten honors for the second consecutive season.
  • Fifth-year JerQuavia Henderson and freshman Sophie Schriever were named second-team All-Big Ten. Henderson earned her fourth career Big Ten honor.
  • Schriever also earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors as the only freshman Hawkeye to compete in the all-around.
  • Tran was named to the 2026 Big Ten All-Championship Team in the all-around, bars and beam.
  • Sophomore Sydney Turner also earned All-Championship Team honors on beam with a 9.900
  • Daisy Bowles was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week (Feb. 24).
  • Fifth-year Marissa Rojas was named the team’s Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree.
