Hawkeyes Claim Second at Twin Cities 2K

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of Iowa rowing team finished second at the Twin Cities 2K after a close day of racing on Lake Phalen. The highest win of the day came from the 3V4 who edged out Minnesota in a close finals race.

The Hawkeyes raced against Big Ten Opponents Minnesota and Wisconsin, along with Kansas in the four-team match-up. The Gophers won ​five of seven races in their first home race since 2016.

“The team handled adversity well this week. I thought our athletes had a great next player up mentality and everyone was ready to go when called upon. We raced hard and I am super proud of the effort they showed in both races. I want to shout out the 3V4 that won a gritty race. Coxswain Olivia Brimeyer did a great job to bring the energy and excitement in that tight race. Anytime we are able to get strokes on the water that helps us to prepare. Looking forward to working hard these next two weeks to come out strong for Big Tens.”
