Hawkeyes Fall in Series Opener

The Iowa baseball team dropped its series opener to No. 25 Nebraska, 10-0, in eight innings on Friday night at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Iowa baseball team dropped its series opener to No. 25 Nebraska, 10-0, in eight innings on Friday night at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

Nebraska struck first in the second inning with an RBI double and added another run in the third to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Huskers extended their advantage with a run in the fifth and a two-run home run in the sixth before breaking the game open with three runs in the seventh to make it 8-0.

Nebraska sealed the win in the eighth inning with back-to-back home solo runs.

Sophomore Tyler Guerin got the start on the mound for Iowa, tossing four innings. Redshirt freshman Kyle Alivo entered in relief, pitching two innings and recording four strikeouts. Freshman Nick Terhaar and redshirt freshman Ty Mikkelsen closed out the game for the Hawkeyes.
