Iowa outlasts Jayhawks at Field of Dreams, 15-10

The University of Iowa baseball team closed out its fall exhibition schedule with a 15-10 victory over Kansas in a scheduled 16-inning contest Saturday afternoon at the Field of Dreams.

DYERSVILLE, Iowa – The University of Iowa baseball team closed out its fall exhibition schedule with a 15-10 victory over Kansas in a scheduled 16-inning contest Saturday afternoon at the Field of Dreams.

Iowa tallied 10 hits and drew 14 walks in the win. Myles Davis led the offensive attack, going 2-for-4 with a grand slam, a triple and a game-high six RBIs. Jaixen Frost finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Sawyer Stein went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Nathan Hopkins connected for a solo home run and scored twice, while Carter Geffre added a solo homer, three walks and a stolen base. Kellen Strohmeyer reached base four times via walks and scored twice.

The Hawkeyes erased an early 3-0 deficit with a six-run fourth inning before adding four runs in the seventh and two more in the 10th. Iowa finished with three home runs, one triple and three doubles.

On the mound, Iowa used 12 pitchers across the 16-inning exhibition and combined for 17 strikeouts. Kyle Alivo struck out three over two innings in the start, while Carter Wilcox earned the win after allowing one hit and striking out three over two scoreless innings.

Maddux Frese tossed two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Brady Ferguson struck out two in a scoreless frame. Tate Slagle, Reid Burkle, Will Pierro and Nick Terhaar also worked scoreless outings for the Hawkeyes.
