IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa’s offensive line has been named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, it was announced Wednesday by the awards committee.
The Joe Moore Award honors offensive line units that display a high level of toughness, effort, teamwork, consistency, technique and finishing. It is named after Joe Moore, widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in college football history. It is the only major college football award to honor a unit.
Iowa’s offensive line includes center Cael Winter, guards Kade Pieper and Leighton Jones and tackles Trevor Lauck and Jack Dotzler. The unit, which has started every game for the Hawkeyes this season, has combined to start 56 career games.
Two of the linemen – Lauck and Pieper – were named to the Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List earlier today.
Iowa has rushed for 200+ yards in three games this season, including a 422-yard output in Week 2 against Northern Iowa. The total is the seventh-most in a single game in program history.
In the game, the line paved the way for three 100-yard rushers – a first for the program since 1983. Iowa has had five 100-yard performers this season, including a season-best 208 yards from fourth-year Kamari Moulton in Week 6 at Washington.
The Hawkeyes are averaging 31 points and 403.2 yards of total offense. Iowa’s rushing attack is averaging 194 yards per game and the o-line has surrendered just five sacks in the first six contests.
The midseason honorees have gained the attention of the Joe Moore Award voting committee as it moves closer to announcing the selection of its semifinalists in November, and finalists in early December. Selection of the 2026 Joe Moore Award Winner will be made public after the award’s annual surprise visit to the winning university’s campus in late December.
Iowa has earned the Joe Moore Award in 2016 and 2025. The Hawkeyes are one of three schools, along with Michigan and Alabama, to be a two-time winner.
No. 17 Iowa (5-1, 2-1) return to action at Minnesota (4-2, 2-1) on Saturday, Oct. 24.
