Sarah Humphries

TitleDirector, Operations

Sarah Humphries is in her sixth season as director of operations for the field hockey program.

Humphries works closely with the Hawkeye staff to help facilitate day-to-day activities of the program. She serves as the team travel coordinator, oversees the program's meal arrangements, acts as a liaison to the equipment, event management and external relations staffs. Humphries also assists with on-campus recruiting and coordinating camps and clinics.

Prior to joining the field hockey staff, Humphries was the head coach at Transylvania University, a Division III school in Lexington, Kentucky, from 2014-18. On top of her coaching duties, Humphries was involved in all aspects of the field hockey program, including budgeting, event management, travel coordination, student-athlete skill development and compliance and recruiting.

Humphries began coaching in 2008 as a coach for middle to high school-aged girls at the Kentuckiana Field Hockey Association. From 2011 to 2013, she was an assistant coach at Division III Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.

From 2012-18, Humphries was a coach and eventual resident director of the Mid Atlantic Field Hockey Camp. There she organized camp-wide tournaments, assessed players' skills, and provided other means of leadership for players and junior coaches.

She was also the co-founder and co-director of the Blast in the Bluegrass Field Hockey Clinic across Kentucky from 2016-18.

Humphries played field hockey at Centre College, a Division III school in Danville, Kentucky, from 2007-11 where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology.

In 2015, she received her master's degree in recreation and sports administration with a focus on athletic administration and coaching from Western Kentucky University.
