2011 – Indoor – led team in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 64-8 1/2 (19.72m) at Iowa Invite… set collegiate-best in shot put (55-9 1/4, 17.00m) at Razorback Invite… placed 11th in weight throw (63-7, 19.38m) at Big Ten Championships… won weight throw (61-7 1/2, 18.78m) and shot put (55-0 1/4, 16.77m) at Iowa Open… Outdoor – led team in hammer throw with collegiate-best performance at Big Ten Championships, placing fourth in 199-11 (60.94m)… that performance ranks sixth all-time at Iowa and helped team to first Big Ten title since 1967… qualified for NCAA West Regional in hammer, placing 18th with a throw of 197-2 (60.09m)… placed 13th in hammer at Drake Relays (199-3, 60.73), fourth at LSU Invite (195-1, 59.46m) and ninth at Musco Twilight XII (190-6, 58.07m)… also led team in shot put, posting season-best 55-7 1/2 (16.95m) at Sun Angel Classic for third place… runner-up in shot put at LSU Invite (55-2 1/4, 16.82m), placing 11th at Big Ten Championships (53-11, 16.43m), 16th at Drake Relays (53-9 3/4, 16.40m) and sixth at Musco Twilight XII (53-4 1/2, 16.27)… letterwinner.

2010 – Indoor – ed team in weight throw (61-7 1/2, 18.78m) with win at Iowa Invite… threw season-best 55-1 1/2 (16.80m) in shot put with second-place finish at Iowa Invite… won weight throw (60-4 1/2, 18.40m) and placed third in shot put (52-6, 16.00m) at Iowa Open… Outdoor – led team in hammer throw with collegiate-best 199-0 (60.66m)…tied for sixth all-time at Iowa…competed in hammer throw (17th, 196-1, 59.76m) and shot put (39th, 52-2, 15.90m) at NCAA West Regional…threw collegiate-best in the shot put at Big Ten Championships (56-9 1/4, 17.30m)…won hammer throw in three of six competitions this season…won at Tiger Track Classic (190-10, 58.17m), Lee Calhoun Memorial (199-0, 60.66m), and Iowa Invitational (187-7, 57.18m)…won shot put at Lee Calhoun Memorial (52-7 1/4, 16.03m)…placed second in hammer throw at Musco Twilight XI (195-10 3/4, 59.71m)…placed third in shot put at Iowa Invitational (50-8 1/4, 15.45m)…letterwinner.

2009 — Indoor – led team in weight throw (54-8 1/4)… placed 23rd in weight throw (53-1 1/2) at Big Ten Championships… placed second in weight throw and fourth in shot put against Illinois (54-1 1/2, 52-11 1/2) and at Iowa Invite (52-0, 53-0)…Outdoor – placed 24th in hammer (165-5) at NCAA Midwest Regional… qualified for regional meet in hammer throw with his collegiate-best 187-7 for second place at Messersmith Invite… that team-leading mark ranks seventh in school history… won shot put at Lee Calhoun Memorial with a collegiate-best 54-2… placed 17th in hammer (175-6) at Big Ten Championships… placed ninth in shot put (53-11) and 13th in hammer (172-1) at Tiger Track Classic, 14th in hammer (176-6) at Drake Relays, and fourth in hammer (169-0) and fifth in shot put (51-5 3/4) at Illinois Invite… letterwinner.

2008 — Track – redshirted

High School — four-time state champion and six-time conference champion… won Drake Relays shot put title senior year… set school shot put (61-4) and discus (173-11) records… coached by Doug Guilford and Matt Lee… lettered four years in baseball, two in football and one in wrestling… National Honor Society member… honor roll student.

Personal — born January 29, 1988… son of Tom and Bonnie Banse… his brother, Andy, was a four-year letterwinner in track (2002-05) at Iowa… interdepartmental studies and communication studies major.
