2012 — Indoor – placed seventh in shot put at New Year’s Classic (48-0 3/4) and 14th at Iowa Invite (47-6 1/4, 14.48m)… Outdoor – placed seventh in special discus at Musco Twilight XIII (165-8, 50.51m)… placed eighth in discus at Tom Botts Invite (159-10, 48.71m), 11th at LSU Invite (159-4, 48.57m) and 19th at Drake Relays (159-6, 48.62m)… letterwinner.

2011 — Indoor – recorded a collegiate-best weight throw of 49-0 3/4 (14.95m) at Iowa Open… Outdoor – placed seventh in discus with season-best 164-2 (50.05m) at Big Ten Championships, helping team to first Big Ten title since 1967… placed third in discus at Messersmith Invite (163-1, 49.70m), seventh at Musco Twilight XII (163-10, 49.95m), second at LSU Invite (161-10, 49.33m) and 11th at Drake Relays (161-9, 49.31m)… letterwinner.

2010 — Indoor – threw a collegiate-best 51-5 3/4 (15.69m) in shot put at Jack Johnson Invite… placed third in shot put at Iowa Invite (50-4 1/2, 15.35m)… Outdoor – threw a season-best 166-1 1/4 (50.63m) in discus at Musco Twilight XI… placed seventh in discus at Big Ten Championships (161-7, 49.26m)… letterwinner.

2009 — Indoor – placed fourth in shot put with season-best 51-3 1/2 at Iowa Open… posted season-best weight throw (46-11 1/2) against Illinois… placed fifth in shot put (51-0 1/4) at Iowa Invite… Outdoor – placed 16th in discus (168-11) at NCAA Midwest Regional… qualified for regional meet in discus with a winning 180-11 at Messersmith Invite… that collegiate-best throw lead team and ranks seventh in school history… placed fifth in discus at Tiger Track Classic (173-3), seventh at Illinois Invite (155-4) and 12th at Big Ten Championships (156-3)… placed second in discus (163-0) and fifth in shot put (48-6) at Lee Calhoun Memorial… letterwinner.

2008 — Track – redshirted… placed fourth in discus (171-9) at Musco Twilight X while competing unattached.

High School — won Class 4-A state title in the discus as a senior, setting a state meet record of 192-6… won Drake Relays discus title … lettered three years in track and field, three in wrestling and two in football… second team all-state and first-team all-conference in football as a senior… named to the 2007 Nike all-American Track and Field team, USA Today High School all-American and the Press Citizen Athlete of the Year… was captain of West High’s state champion wrestling team and state champion track and field team in 2007…football captain in 2006…honor roll student.

Personal — born June 12, 1989… son of Doug and Diana Brayton… psychology and sport studies major.
