High School — 2011 Iowa Gatorade Male Track Athlete of the Year… 2011 Ottumwa High School Outstanding Male Athlete… six-time all-conference, five-time all-district and four-time all-state honoree in cross country and track… won 1,600 (4:14.20) and 3,200-meter (9:05.25) state titles senior year with career best times… the 3,200-meter time set a state meet record… placed second in 1,600 meters (4:24.90) and fourth in 3,200 meters (9:26.25) at state meet junior year… won state cross country meet senior year in 15:20, placing fourth as a junior (15:58)… seven-time conference champion and two-time runner-up in cross country and track… won 3,200 meters at 2011 Drake Relays in 9:05.88, which set a meet record… runner-up in 1,600 meters (4:15.95) at 2011 Drake Relays, placing third in 1,600 meters (4:18.52) and fourth in 3,200 meters (9:22.23) junior year… National Honor Society member… class valedictorian… Iowa Governor’s Scholar Award winner… coached by Jeff Smith and Jim Nickerson.
