IOWA CITY – The Gold team won game one of the 2006 Black and Gold World Series, 4-2, Tuesday night at Banks Field.
David Conroy pitched five scoreless innings for the Gold squad, giving up just two hits and striking out three. Tom Moreland, Matt Wooldrik, Caleb Curry and T.J. Cataldo all drove in runs for the Gold.
For the Black team, Brian Burmester was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks, a run scored and an RBI, while Tyson Blaser had the other black RBI.
Mike Schurz took the loss for the Black, while Chase Stephens closed out the win and earned the save for the Gold team.
Wednesday’s game has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
