Iowa Finishes Day One at Central Regional's

The University of Iowa women’ s rowing team finished its first day at the Central Regional’s in Tennessee Saturday. The Hawkeyes had a strong day of rowing and advanced one boat on to a grand final heat and three other boats to B and C final heats.

The Hawkeyes varsity 4 boat qualified for the grand final heat that will take place tomorrow. The boat got third-place in its heat out of six boats with a time of 7:36.31. Iowa finished behind Wisconsin (7:32.30) and Michigan (7:34.45).

In the 2V8+, the Hawkeyes placed fourth, which advanced them to the B finals heat tomorrow. The 1V8+ also placed fourth in their heat advancing them to B finals.

“It was a good day,” said Head Coach Mandi Kowal. “We had some good races and tomorrow will be a big day. We all look forward to tomorrow’s finals.”

The Hawkeyes will finish up at Central Regional’s Sunday Morning with the final heats.
