Iowa Finishes Eighth At Central/South Regionals

OAK RIDGE, TENN- The University of Iowa women’s rowing team finished up competition at Central/South Regionals Sunday. The Hawkeyes sent four boats to the finals after Saturday’s semi-finals races. Iowa finished eighth overall with 293 points and finished fifth among the Central Region teams.

Iowa started off the last day of competition with the Open 4 C final. The Hawkeyes placed fourth in the event with a time of 7:52.55.

The Hawkeyes V4+ boat was Iowa’s only boat to qualify for a grand final heat. The boat placed sixth in its heat with a time of 7:36.79. Iowa finished behind Virginia, Wisconsin and Michigan State.

Iowa continued the competition with the petite final of the 2V8+, which placed second with a time of 6:56.56. The boat finished behind Michigan State (6:49.30). Iowa’s 1V8+ also qualified for a petite final. The boat placed third with a time of 6:42.32.
