IOWA CITY, Iowa — The 67th-ranked University of Iowa men’s tennis team split its final homestand of the season Sunday on the Koltz Courts at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. The Hawkeyes fell to No. 70 Indiana, 4-0, but silenced Chicago State, 7-0.
After dropping the doubles point to Indiana (9-14, 4-5), the Hawkeyes went scoreless in singles.
Iowa left three players on the court when the match against the Hoosiers was clinched: junior Robin Haden, sophomore Jake Jacoby, and freshman Jonas Larsen.
Iowa dominated Chicago State in the nightcap. The match was the final home competition for Hawkeye senior Dominic Patrick. The native of Gilbert, Arizona, lost his singles match earlier in the day against Indiana, but captured a 7-6, 6-4 win over Christian Gonzalez of Chicago State. The win was Patrick’s 62nd overall singles victory of his career, which moves him into a tie for 10th all-time on in school history.
Sophomore Josh Silverstein stepped on to singles court one for the third time this season and improved his record at No. 1 to 3-0. He defeated Felix Savard, 6-4, 6-2.
Jacoby picked up his team-best 14th win on the year with a win over Gonzalo Martinez, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5.
In doubles, Jacoby and Larsen paired at one with sophomore Lefteris Theodorou and junior Nils Hallestrand at two. The teams quickly clinched the doubles point, 6-1, and 6-2, respectively.
Iowa (11-14, 1-8) will finish the season in Michigan when they face No. 21 Michigan on Friday and Michigan State on Sunday to conclude the regular season.
