Hawkeyes Grab 11 Career Bests in Madison

MADISON, Wisconsin—The University of Iowa track and field team recorded one all-time top 10 performance and 11 career bests at the Wisconsin B1G Invite on Saturday.

Tyler Lienau led the way for the men in the hammer throw finishing sixth with a career best throw of 60.81 meters. This mark currently puts Lienau seventh all-time in program history. Jordan Hawkins was next in eighth with a career best throw of 57.92 meters.

Allison Wahrman brought home the bronze medal in the hammer with a throw of 59.18 meters.

In the men’s discus throw, the men went four-for-four in career bests, led by Jordan Johnson. Johnson finished third with a career best of 57.77 meters. Tyler Lienau recorded his second career best of the day with a throw of 55.04 meters. Dawson Ellingson finished fifth with a career best of 52.59 meters. Jordan Hawkins was next in seventh with a career best of 50.95 meters.

Serena Brown brought home the silver medal on the women’s side with a mark of 57.25 meters. Kat Moody finished fifth with a career best mark of 51.13 meters.

Kat Moody led the women in the shot put with a second-place finish with a throw of 15.94 meters. Elijah Barnes brought home the bronze medal for the men with a throw of 18.40 meters. Dawson Ellingson picked up his second career best of the day with a fifth place finish with a throw of 17.74 meters.

Zack Pluff won the high jump with a career best of 2.10 meters. This is Pluff’s second career best in as many meets. Cole Moeller finished second with a height of 2.05 meters. Dallyssa Huggins won for the women with a height of 1.70 meters. Maria Gorham finished second in 1.65 meters.

Karina Joiner picked up the win the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.23. Katie Petersen finished second with a career best of 14.32.

Julien Gillum brought home hold in the 400 meters with a season’s best time of 47.75. DeJuan Frye was next in second with a time of 48.31. Nolan Kembel and Josh Andrews finished third and fourth with times of 48.52 and 49.45.

Gabby Skopec brought home the bronze medal in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:41.05.

Jason Hoffman won the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.71. Armando Bryson finished second with a time of 1:52.53. Lindsay Welker finished second with a time of 2:18.81 in the women’s 800.

Drake Woody picked up the win the 400 hurdles with a career best of 53.07 and DeJuan Frye won the men’s 200 meters with a time of 22.36. Evan Shuster finished second with a time of 23.21.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes will head to Champaign, Illinois to compete at the Big Ten Championships next weekend on May 14th-16th.
