1: Iowa and Minnesota battle for Floyd of Rosedale on Saturday. The Hawkeyes have won six straight in the series. Iowa has not trailed in a game against the Gophers since the fourth quarter in 2016, a span of 245 minutes and 28 seconds. The Hawkeyes are 20-5 in their last 25 rivalry trophy games (Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin).
2: Iowa leads the country in interceptions (19) and ranks third nationally in takeaways (24). The Hawkeyes have 83 interception since 2017, more than any team in the country. Ten different Hawkeyes have at least one interception this season. Iowa is plus-18 in turnover margin in its seven wins and minus-six in its two losses.
3: Iowa ranks second the Big Ten and fifth in the country in scoring defense (15.7). The Hawkeyes rank seventh nationally in rush defense (98.7), second in the Big Ten. Iowa’s total defense (304.7) ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 10th in the country.
4: DB Riley Moss and DB Dave Belton tie for the conference lead with four interceptions. DB Matt Hankins ranks seventh with three interceptions. Iowa is the only team in the country with two players with four or more interceptions. Moss has missed the last three games with an injury.
5: C Tyler Linderbaum was named a midseason first-team All-American by the Associated Press, Sporting News, CBS Sports, and The Athletic. Linderbaum has made 30 consecutive starts at center. Iowa is 23-7 during that span.
6: QB Spencer Petras owns a 13-4 record as Iowa’s starting quarterback, the fourth best winning percentage by a starting quarterback in program history. He has made 17 straight starts.
7: WR Charlie Jones is the only player in the conference to rank in the top three in average yards per kickoff return and punt return. Jones has returned 15 kickoffs for an average of 23.9 yards per return, No. 3 in the Big Ten. He averages 10.4 yards on a league-high 26 punt returns.
8: P Tory Taylor ranks fourth in the Big Ten averaging 45.8 yards per punt. Taylor is tied for the Big Ten lead and ranks fourth nationally with 58 punts. Taylor was recognized as a first-team midseason All-American by The Athletic. Iowa has won the field position battle in each of its seven wins.
9: RB Tyler Goodson leads Iowa with 754 yards on 170 attempts. The 170 carries are a single-season career high. He is eight yards shy of matching his single-season best in rushing yards (762 in 2020). He has been Iowa’s leading rusher in 12 straight games. The last Hawkeye to lead the team in rushing in 13 consecutive games was Ladell Betts, who was Iowa’s top rusher for 37 straight games from 1998-2001. Betts is now Iowa’s running backs coach.
10: LB Jack Campbell leads Iowa and ranks fifth in the Big Ten with 83 tackles. He was named a second-team midseason All-American by The Athletic. He had a career-high 18 tackles in Iowa’s Week 4 win against Colorado State, earning national and B1G Defensive Player of the Week honors. He is a Butkus Award semifinalist.
