Hawkeyes Finish Scrimmage at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Iowa rowing team finished its first event of the spring season against the UCF Knights on Lake Pickett.

Iowa opened their weekend on Friday, Feb. 9, with 1250-meter races at controlled stroke rates, followed by two 2000-meter races at varied stroke rates on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Hawkeyes are back in action on Mar. 16-17 in an exhibition against the SMU Mustangs in Waco, Texas.

Quoting Head Coach Jeff Garbutt
“I am extremely proud of this group and how they handled themselves this weekend. We traveled well for our first competition weekend. Our goal was to show improvement each round of racing and focus on the process of getting better and true boat speed. The Hawkeyes took a huge step forward as we continue to improve and get ready for the season.”
