IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s wrestling head coach Clarissa Chun released the full schedule for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday. The Hawkeyes will host two home duals inside of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Notes about the 2024-25 season:
- The Hawkeyes open the season on Nov. 2 in Indianola, Iowa, where they will compete in the annual Luther Hill Open. The following weekend, Iowa will travel to Marietta, Georgia, for a dual against Life University on Nov. 8 and the Eagle Madness Open on Nov. 9.
- The Hawkeyes will host their first dual of the season in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 16 as they welcome William Jewell and Cornell College. Iowa will host a second home dual on Jan. 18 featuring Augustana College and Grand Valley State.
- Iowa will be represented at the Missouri Valley College Open in Marshall, Missouri, (Nov. 22-23) and the North Central College Open in Naperville, Illinois (Dec. 15).
- The team will travel to Liberty, Missouri, to compete in the Jewell Dual Tournament on Dec. 7.
- Iowa will close out the 2024 calendar year competing in the Soldier Salute at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, on Dec. 29-30.
- Iowa opens the 2025 calendar year at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Jan. 10-11.
- The Hawkeyes will travel to Albany, New York, for the College Duals where they will face Lock Haven, Sacred Heart, Presbyterian and Buffalo St. on Jan. 25.
- The team will close out the regular season at the Grand View Open in Des Moines, Iowa, on Feb. 1.
- The postseason will begin with the NCWWC Regional Championships on Feb. 22 hosted by Simpson College and finish at the National Championships on March 7-8 at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
The Hawkeyes capped off their inaugural season with six individual national champions and a team title. Four of those individual champions return for the 2024-25 season, including Emilie Gonzalez , Ava Bayless, Reese Larramendy, and Kylie Welker. Iowa returns nine of its 12 All-Americans including Lilly Luft, Ella Schmit, Sterling Dias, Jaycee Foeller, Emilie and Brianna Gonzalez, Bayless, Larramendy and Welker. The roster includes 11 newcomers with seven freshmen and four transfers. Two of the roster additions include 2024 Olympic Silver medalist Kennedy Blades and 2023 U23 World Silver medalist Macey Kilty.
