PHILADELPHIA – The University of Iowa men’s wrestling team won seven of nine matches and tallied three bonus point victories during Session I of the 2025 NCAA Championship on Thursday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center. Iowa sits in sixth place with 10.5 team points.
Iowa got its first win of the day at 133 pounds with No. 2 seed Drake Ayala putting together a technical fall over No. 31 seed Kade Moore of Missouri, 21-5.
The No. 5 seed at 149 pounds, Kyle Parco notched a decision over Michigan’s No. 28 seed Dylan Glicher, 7-2.
At 165 pounds, second-seeded Michael Caliendo won a major decision over Iowa State’s No. 30 seed Aiden Riggins, 11-3.
Patrick Kennedy used a first period takedown to advance at 174 pounds over No. 22 Nick Incontrera of Penn, 4-2.
No. 11 seed at 184 pounds Gabe Arnold won his first match at the NCAA Championships, decision over Indiana’s No. 22 seed Donnell Washington.
No. 5 seed Ben Kueter also won his NCAA Championship debut. Kueter recorded a 6-0 decision over No. 28 seed Daniel Herrera of Iowa State.
No. 29 seed at 125 pounds Joey Cruz fell to No. 4 seed Vincent Robinson of NC State, 12-1 and 18th-seeded Jacori Teemer dropped his bout with No. 15 seed Johnny Lovett of Central Michigan.
