Hawkeyes to Compete at National Championships

The Iowa women's wrestling team will finish the season this weekend at the NCWWC National Championships in Coralville, Iowa. Competition inside of Xtream Arena will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and continue into Saturday night.

RECAPPING REGION VII CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Hawkeyes had all 15 regional participants qualify for the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships. Iowa claimed the Region VII title, racking up 192 team points.

Iowa had 15 student-athletes reach the finals, finishing with champions at all 10 weight classes. On the mat, the Hawkeyes went 43-5, with the five losses being head-to-head matchups in the championship round. Iowa didn’t surrender a single match point through the quarterfinal round.

Region VII champions include Sterling Dias, Ava Bayless, Brianna Gonzalez, Cali Leng, Emmily Patneuad, Nanea Estrella, Macey Kilty, Kennedy Blades, Kylie Welker and Jaycee Foeller.

PREVIEWING NCWWC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Hawkeyes close out the 2024-25 season at the NCWWC Championships in Coralville, Iowa, this weekend at Xtream Arena. Action will begin at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and continue into Saturday night.

Iowa looks to defend its 2023-24 title where the Hawkeyes narrowly defeated North Central College. Iowa finished the tournament with six individual national champions and 12 all-americans. All 15 Hawkeyes are seeded heading into nationals, including six top-rankedwrestlers at their respective weight classes.

The top-eight placements at each weight class at nationals will receive All-American honors. For more tournament information visit ncwwc.com.
