STILLWATER, Okla. — The No. 7 University of Iowa wrestling team fell to No. 3 Oklahoma State, 32–11, on Sunday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
“165 was an important match for the postseason and seeds,” said head coach Tom Brands. “They are all important for the postseason and seeds. We’ve got the Big Ten Championships coming up. If you go match-to-match and look at a general tip, get the first takedown and ride. Take it out of them and then build your lead. Get that first takedown and wrestle a tough match, wrestle your match. Finish the seven minutes strong and hard. Pretty good overall formula, right there, to win tough matches in an environment like that.”
Oklahoma State took the first bout of the night at 125 pounds, as No. 7 Troy Spratley defeated No. 6 Dean Peterson by 5–2 decision.
The Cowboys added bonus points at 133 and 141 pounds, with No. 6 Jax Forrest earning a 19–3 technical fall over No. 9 Drake Ayala and No. 2 Sergio Vega pinning Kale Petersen in 6:31.
Iowa got on the board with bonus points at 149 pounds, as Ryder Block needed 5:36 to defeat Kolter Burton by technical fall, 19–4.

Caliendo defeated No. 2 Dee Lockett, 4–2, using a first-period takedown to avenge his earlier loss to Lockett.
Third-ranked Patrick Kennedy followed with an 8–3 decision over No. 7 Alex Facundo at 174, using two takedowns to secure the win.
