IOWA CITY, Iowa – One hundred twenty-four University of Iowa student-athletes have been named to the 2026 Spring Academic All-Big Ten team, the conference office announced Wednesday. The list includes student-athletes from baseball (9), men's golf (2), women's golf (7), rowing (28), softball (8), women's tennis (5), men's track and field (23), women's track and field (25) and women’s wrestling (17).
It is the second straight season women’s wrestling has posted a school-record total, while the seven selections for women’s golf are the most since 2021.
A total of 2,759 students competing in spring and at-large sports were honored, including 234 in baseball, 92 men's and 111 women's golfers, 172 men's and 197 women's lacrosse students, 51 men's and 349 women's rowing students, 195 softball students, 69 men's and 105 women's tennis students, 345 men's and 431 women's track and field students, 18 acrobatics and tumbling students, nine bowling students, 22 men's and 44 women's fencing students, eight pistol and 10 rifle students, 35 men's volleyball students, 29 men's and 62 women's water polo students, 54 women's ice hockey students, 22 women's lightweight rowing students, 58 women's sand volleyball students, 20 women’s artistic swimming students and 17 women's wrestling students.
Ninety-four carried a perfect grade point average, including eight Hawkeyes – Ty Mikkelsen (baseball), Isabelle DeLong (rowing), Kendall Doerr (rowing), Evan Schwickerath (rowing), Brynn Storhoff (rowing), Duke Faley (men’s track and field), Miles Wilson (men’s track and field) and Peyton Wilson (women’s track and field)
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
