Jason Manson

Former University of Iowa quarterback Jason Manson was elevated to senior analyst/assistant offensive coach in July 2025, after serving as the Klein Family Director of Player Development for the Iowa football program the previous four years.

The Hawkeyes won a combined 23 games over the last three seasons, capturing the Big Ten West Division title in 2023 and winning the 2025 ReliaQuest Bowl. Iowa finished two of the last three seasons ranked nationally, placing No. 24 in 2023 and No. 17 in 2025. The Hawkeyes have been ranked in the final AP Top 25 in six of the last eight seasons.

Iowa earned 27 conference victories with Manson on staff from 2021 to 2025. Furthermore, Iowa has had at least one consensus All-American in each of the last five seasons, including multiple honorees in each of the last three years, and six national individual positional award recipients (Rimington Trophy, twice; Jet Award, twice; Ray Guy Award; and Butkus Award). Iowa’s offensive line also garnered recognition as the nation’s best, winning the Joe Moore Award in 2025.

The Hawkeyes won nine games in 2025, capping the season with a 34-27 triumph over No. 14 Vanderbilt in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Iowa won eight games in 2024 and 10 games in 2023, earning invitations to the Music City Bowl and Citrus Bowl, respectively.

Iowa notched eight wins in 2022, concluding the season with a 21-0 shutout of Kentucky in the Music City Bowl after winning five of its final six contests.

The Hawkeyes won 10 games in 2021, capturing the Big Ten West Division title and advancing to the Big Ten Conference Championship Game. Iowa concluded that season with an appearance in the Citrus Bowl and ranked No. 23 in the final AP Poll.

Manson has been heavily involved in high school administration and coaching since the end of his Hawkeye playing career. He served as assistant Dean of Students and head football coach at St. Thomas More School for two years (2019-21). In 2018-19, he served as a student management assistant at the Greater Hartford (Conn.) Academy of the Arts while leading Capital Prep as head coach.

A native of Bloomfield, Connecticut, Manson served as the head football coach at Capital Preparatory Magnet School from 2014-18, where he was also the director of college and career readiness. He was a position coach at Central Connecticut State University from 2010-14, instructor and offensive coordinator at Milford Academy in 2008-09, and wide receivers coach at Becker College and Western Connecticut State in 2007.

As a player at Iowa, Manson lettered in 2005 and 2006 while playing both quarterback and wide receiver. His career totals include completing 42-of-85 pass attempts for 442 yards and one touchdown, rushing 22 times for 93 yards, and catching three passes for 22 yards. In his lone career start at quarterback, Manson led Iowa to a double-overtime victory at Syracuse in 2006.

Manson joined the Iowa program in 2002, when the Hawkeyes posted an 11-2 record and shared the Big Ten championship. Iowa posted a 10-3 mark in 2003 and a 10-2 record in 2004. The Hawkeyes defeated Florida in the Outback Bowl following the 2003 season and closed the 2004 campaign with a iconic, last-second win over LSU in the Capital One Bowl. Iowa earned bowl invitations in all five of his seasons as a student-athlete.

Manson earned his bachelor’s degree in communication studies in December 2006. He was a four-year member of the team’s Leadership Council and was Iowa’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2006. Manson was also a three-year member of the Iowa Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (ISAAC) and received the Student Leadership Award from the UI Athletics Department as a senior.

Manson and his wife, Tamika, have three children: Julian, Jace, and Jaxon. His son Julian is a true freshman linebacker on Iowa’s football team.
