Tanner Krueger is in his third year with the University of Iowa football program. He served as an offensive graduate assistant coach in 2024 and an analyst working with the Hawkeye receivers in 2025. In 2026, Krueger was elevated to analyst director/tight ends.

In his two years on the Hawkeye football staff, Iowa won a combined 17 games, including a 34-27 win over No. 14 Vanderbilt in the ReliaQuest Bowl to conclude the 2025 season. The Hawkeyes finished 2025 ranked No. 17 nationally. In 2024, Krueger was on a staff that worked with consensus All-American running back Kaleb Johnson.

Krueger joined the Iowa staff after spending four years on the football staff at Wayne State College (WSC). He coached the wide receivers in 2023, mentoring a first-team all-conference selection who was also named the conference’s Offensive Newcomer of the Year. Krueger worked with WSC’s running backs in 2022 and guided the tight ends during his first two years as a graduate assistant. His additional duties included serving as travel coordinator and video coordinator.

Krueger played quarterback at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. A four-year letterwinner, two-year starter, and team captain, he earned all-conference honors in both his junior and senior seasons.

Krueger earned his bachelor’s degree in sports communication from Simpson and his master’s degree in organizational management from WSC.

A native of Waverly, Iowa, Krueger graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 2016.
